The Inpatient Treatment Environment
At Corner Canyon Health Centers, we have created an inpatient environment that enables individuals to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of healing and recovery. This allows our clients to stop worrying about exposure to negative influences or traumatic situations that may have influenced their lives outside of the center. Our personell are well trained and empathetic about the concerns our clients have, some have been in treatment themselves and understand on a personal level. Respect and care for each individual underlies effective treatment.
Highly structured and personalized for the needs of each individual, our inpatient mental health treatments allow each participant the opportunity to provide input into their own treatment as they meet with their therapist and consult with our medical team about the results of their initial assessments and ongoing treatment needs. We also ask clients for feedback each month about their experience with the program and treatment environment so that we can continually improve the client satisfaction and outcomes.
What is Inpatient Treatment for Mental Health?
Inpatient treatment means clients live 24/7 with other clients in a treatment environment, in Corner Canyon’s case a large, comfortable, attractive home. Client and staff eat and socialize together, providing an environment that can feel like a family. They do some forms of treatment off site, like equine therapy and team building, and families may come in to visit and do therapy with their loved ones if clinically appropriate. Clients participate in different therapy groups daily in addition to individual therapy, family therapy, and Neuroenhancement brain techonology. AA/NA groups if appropriate are in the evening, and individualized treatment tracks are implemented in the evening if addiction treatment is not recommended.
At Corner Canyon Health Centers, clinical services are provided by licensed therapists, psychiatrists, medical personnel, psychologists, addiction counselors, and other clinical professionals who serve as members of an individual’s treatment team. The treatment team works with the individual and their family to develop a personalized treatment plan in the first week of enrollment, and each week after to guide their process.
A treatment plan works as a guideline for the kinds of care an individual needs for a successful recovery. A multidisciplinary treatment team assures that a variety of professional viewpoints are available to guide the client’s process. In addition, effective team communication ensures that quality care is delivered efficiently and promptly.
Inpatient Mental Health Treatment Services
Our facilities offer a variety of services that are geared for mental health treatment. These inpatient treatment services include:
Behavioral therapy helps identify and reverse unhealthy or self-destructing behaviors. The two main behavioral therapy methods used at Corner Canyon Health Centers are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented, and hands-on approach to problem-solving. DBT helps increase cognitive and emotional regulation by observing triggers and assessing which coping skills to apply in the sequence of events, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Effective communication is one of the most important elements of any addiction recovery method. Corner Canyon utilizes multiple communication therapy methods to give clients the skills they need to begin forming improved and supportive relationships with family, friends, and their community. A few of our methods include relational therapy, family systems thinking, motivational interviewing, and assertive communication.
Recreational therapy often exposes underlying issues which are difficult to identify in traditional therapy. These experiences can help clients recognize repressed emotions, unresolved trauma, unhealthy relationship patterns, or poor coping mechanisms. Recreational activities give clients the opportunity to understand themselves better, improve these skills, and learn new behaviors in a safe and compassionate setting. During their stay at Corner Canyon, clients will have the opportunity to participate in service projects, hiking, massage therapy, art therapy, outdoor activities, yoga, swimming, and more.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting are recent breakthroughs in trauma treatment. Clients work with our trauma-focused specialists to process their traumatic memories and progress towards resolution. EMDR and Brainspotting differ from standard PTSD treatments because they not only treat mental wounds, but also transform them into personal empowerment. EMDR consists of eight treatment phases and has been clinically proven to be safe, with no side effects.
Corner Canyon utilizes the SGB (Stellate Ganglion Block) shot when appropriate to reduce symptoms of PTSD and enable clients to feel better quickly and engage at a deeper level in the therapy we provide.
Corner Canyon utilizes group therapy to help clients learn from each other and form lasting connections. Addiction can often create feelings of isolation, denial, shame, and depression. These problems often respond better to group treatment instead of individual therapy, and in fact research supports group therapy as the most effective treatment method, followed by family therapy and then individual therapy. Some of our support groups include psychoeducational, skill development, cognitive-behavioral, and interpersonal process groups.
