What Makes Us Different

We believe that mental health care should be personal, evidence-based, and holistic. Here’s how we deliver care that goes beyond just managing symptoms:

A Safe Space to Heal and Be Understood

Care Rooted in Understanding, Respect, and Compassion

By combining deep clinical experience with genuine human connection, our team provides personalized care that respects cultural backgrounds, personal values, and the whole person—not just a diagnosis.

Care That Meets You Where You Are

Whether you’re seeking intensive support or looking to balance treatment with daily life, we offer a continuum of care for every stage of mental health recovery.

Residential Mental Health Treatment

Our most immersive level of care. Clients live on-site at our Draper campus and receive 24/7 supervision, daily therapy sessions, psychiatry services, and holistic treatments like yoga, art therapy, and nature-based therapy. Ideal for individuals needing a reset in a safe, structured environment.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Designed for those who need intensive therapeutic support during the day but are stable enough to return home or to sober housing at night. PHP includes 5–6 hours of treatment per day, five days a week, and includes group and individual therapy, medication management, and skills training.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

A flexible option that allows clients to attend part-time therapy (3–4 days/week, mornings or evenings) while maintaining work, school, or family responsibilities. IOP focuses on continued therapeutic growth, emotional resilience in real-world settings, and community reintegration.

Sara-sorenson LCMHC

Sara has a Bachelor’s in Anthropology and a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling. She is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC), trained in EMDR, CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, ACT, and Art Therapy.

Her work spans diverse populations, including foster youth, survivors of sexual abuse, and individuals struggling with addiction.

Cheryl Kehl, LCSW
Cheryl has worked in mental health and addiction treatment since 1991, serving as a clinician, clinical director, program founder, and administrator. In 1998, she co-founded Second Nature Wilderness Program for adolescents after identifying gaps in existing outdoor therapy models. Her goal was to create a safer, more clinically sound approach that expanded access for a broader adolescent population and gave parents greater confidence in wilderness-based care.

Those years of experience, combined with her own time in treatment, directly shaped Corner Canyon. Having experienced residential care firsthand, Cheryl understood what made treatment effective, what got in the way of clinical growth, and what it took for clients to feel genuinely safe and cared for. Corner Canyon’s emphasis on comprehensive assessment, advanced clinical practices, and innovative technology reflects that foundation.

Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology and a Master of Social Work degree, both from Brigham Young University. Outside of work, she is the oldest of ten children, a mother of three, and a grandmother of six, which she will tell you is her favorite role of all.
